Bathtime

 

It is important to never add essential oils directly to your bath water. As you likely know, oils and water do not mix. If you place drops into your bath water without first diluting, the concentrated oil will sit on the water’s surface and will stick to your skin and other tender areas. This can cause irritation or burns.  ​

Combine essential oils with a carrier oil

To help the essential oils dilute and disperse throughout the bath, combine them with a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, or V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex.

Add 5–6 drops of essential oil to 1 tablespoon of carrier oil depending on your skin sensitivity and desired scent strength. Mix to incorporate. Fill the tub and turn off the water before adding the oil blend to achieve the full aromatic effect. Stir the oils around before climbing in to help circulate the mixture.

  • Lavender: This gentle scent promotes a relaxed atmosphere and is a perfect treat for a nighttime bath before bed.

  • Eucalyptus Globulus: Take a bath with Eucalyptus after a long day or a workout for a refreshing and stimulating experience. This oil is stronger than other oils, so use less of it or blend with another oil like Sandalwood or Geranium.

  • Roman Chamomile: The warm and gentle aroma creates a calm atmosphere. It soothes dry skin while unwinding during your nighttime routine.

  • Ylang Ylang: Traditionally known for its romantic appeal, Ylang Ylang has a calming, relaxing, and comforting aroma. Massage into the scalp while you bathe to increase the appearance of healthy, shiny hair.

  • Sacred Frankincense™: This fan favorite can be diffused while you meditate in the bath for increased spiritual awareness and grounding.

  • Rose: Has a sensual aroma that creates a peaceful, loving, and nurturing environment while promoting a healthy complexion.

  • Patchouli: Provides an earthy, grounded atmosphere while occasionally improving the appearance of dry, chapped skin.

Many of these "hot" oils can cause a hot or warming sensation when applied undiluted to the skin.

Bathtime 2

 

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup dry coconut milk powder

  • 2 tablespoons baking soda

  • 2 tablespoons arrowroot starch

  • 10–15 drops of your favorite topical-use essential oil

 

Directions:

1. Mix dry ingredients together in a small bowl.
2. Pour half the amount into a half pint-sized or larger glass jar.
3. Drop essential oils into the center.
4. Pour the other half of the powder mixture on top.
5. Secure the jar lid and shake until well combined.
6. To use, add ¼ cup of dry mixture under running bathwater, then mix until the powder is incorporated.

Back Massage

  • ¼ cup V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex

  • 8 drops Frankincense

  • 8 drops Lavender

  • 8 drops German Chamomile

How to give a back massage

1.  Start with about 1 tablespoon of the oil blend above or your chosen premixed massage oil. Add more if necessary.

2. Use long, fluid strokes to spread the massage oil over the whole area.

3. Knead the muscles with your fingers and palms.

4. Spend about 30 seconds on each muscle group.

5. Massage the muscles on either side of the spine, avoiding the spine itself.

Foot Massage

  • 2 teaspoons V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex

  • 2 drops Thyme

  • 1 drop Geranium

 

How to give a foot massage

1. Start by gently massaging and pulling on the toes.

2. Use your thumbs in the sole of the foot, with the fingers rested on top of the foot.

3. Massage from the ball of the foot to the arch and down to the heel.

Hand Massage

  • 1 full dropper Cinnamon CBD Oil

 

How to give a hand massage

1. Start with the fingers, rubbing them up and down and gently spreading them apart.

2. Squeeze the part of the palm between the thumb and forefinger.

3. Use the thumb to rub the entire palm, starting from the wrist to the base of each finger.

4. Use fingertips to massage the top of the hand.

Head Tension Massage

  • 1 full dropper Cool Mint CBD Oil

  • 1 drop M-Grain

 

How to give a head tension massage

1. Apply oil to back of neck, forehead, and jawline. Stay away from the eyes, mouth, and nose area.

2. Use gentler pressure than normal, especially at the beginning of the massage.

3. Rub in gentle, circular motions on the temples.

4. Glide your fingers up the jawline and into your hair.

5. Follow the directions above to massage the neck, paying special attention to where the neck meets the head.

Joint Massage

  • Empty 15 ml bottle with AromaGlide® Roller Fitment top

  • 15 drops Eucalyptus Globulus

  • 10 drops Lime

  • 10 drops Ginger

  • 5 drops Basil

  • Add essential oils to the bottle and top off with V-6 Vegetable Oil complex

 

How to give a joint massage

1. Use the roll-on for precise application of oil to the joint.

2. Before you get into the joints, massage the larger area around the joint for a few minutes to warm up the muscles.

3. Use small strokes like rubbing back and forth in a small area and making circles with your fingers.

4. Apply a warm compress before or after for additional relaxation.

Neck & Shoulder Massage

  • 2 teaspoons Relaxation™ Massage Oil

  • 2 drops Raven

 

How to give a neck & shoulder massage

1.  Use light, long strokes with firm but not intense pressure.

2. When you find knots, apply concentrated pressure using your fingertips.

3. Knead thumbs up and down along the back of the neck; use hands and fingertips along the shoulders and up the sides of the neck to the base of the head.

4. Use the heel of your hand in circular motions on the back of the shoulder blades; do the same motion just under the collarbone.

Post-Workout Massage

  • 1 tablespoon

  • 2 drops Black Pepper

  • 2 drops Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood

 

How to give a post-workout massage

1.  Start with light pressure on tired muscles, then build up pressure. Stop massaging if it hurts.

2. Begin by rubbing the massage oil over the area with flat hands, then build up to kneading for a deeper massage.

3. Depending on where you’re feeling muscle fatigue, you may want to mix more massage oil. In that case, follow the same ratios above.

4. Your massage technique will vary depending on where you feel muscle fatigue.

Scalp Massage

  • ½ teaspoon V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex

  • 1 drop Rosemary

  • 1 drop Cedarwood

 

How to give a scalp massage

1.  Start by running your hands through your dry hair.

2. Use your fingers to make circular motions all over the scalp, moving slowly from front to back; do the same movement from back to front.

3. Use your fingertips instead of your fingernails to work the oil into your scalp.

4. Rub your ears and the spot right behind your ears.

5. Hop in the shower to rinse off. The oils can leave your hair feeling greasy.

These pocket-sized pouches give a tiny dose of aromatherapy and freshen up any unpleasant-smelling areas. Fill these little packages with any dried flowers or herbs you like! Rosemary needles, dried chamomile, and cedarwood shavings are all clean and crisp smells that provide a pleasant whiff instead of a cringy odor.

What you need

½ cup uncooked rice
¼ cup Epsom salt
1 cup dried lavender buds
Muslin cotton drawstring pouches, approximately 5 inches long by 4 inches wide
40 drops Lavender essential oil


What you do

1. In a medium bowl, mix rice, Epsom salt, flower buds, and essential oil to thoroughly scent the mixture.
2. Spoon mixture into your muslin pouch.
3. Place anywhere you want to add a fresh lavender scent.
4. Refresh your pouch every 2─3 weeks by opening it up and adding more drops of essential oil.

 

This recipe creates enough for two sachets.

Where to put the scented sachets:

  • Place it with other natural-looking decor on a tray in a bathroom or guest room.

  • Stash it in a drawer for delicately scented clothes.

  •  Store it in a linen closet for fresh sheets and towels.

  • Keep it in the car to hang on your rearview mirror.

  •  Hide it away in a gym bag to quell any odors.

  • Throw it in your suitcase for clean-smelling clothes while you’re on the go.

  • Stuff it in smelly shoes to give them a refresh.

  • Place it in your pillowcase to surround yourself in calming aromas as you drift off to sleep.
