What We Use at CI
NOTE: Transparency — the highest of any brand evaluated. Their website provides detailed explanations of every ingredient, why it was chosen, what function it serves, and how it benefits skin. They disclose the saponification method, organic certifier, superfat percentage philosophy, and cure time. Nothing is hidden.
Other CI-Approved Toothbrushes
NOTE: The same formulation philosophy applies to all their bar soaps, not just the one displayed herein: The same clean profile; the same USDA Organic certification.
NOTE: Vermont Soap uses palm and palm kernel oil in their bar base. They state it is sustainably sourced, but the specific third-party certification for their palm sourcing is not as prominently disclosed as Chagrin Valley's ingredient-by-ingredient transparency. This is a minor gap, not a disqualifier, but worth noting if palm sourcing is a concern for you.
NOTE: Many bars contain botanicals, clays, and plant powders for color and texture. All of these are clean and natural. For the strictest minimal Gold Standard formulation, choose their simplest bars — Lavender Comfrey or an unscented option — where the ingredient list is shortest and everything is a recognizable whole-plant or whole-oil ingredient.
NOTE: USDA Organic — Most Botanie bars achieve 85% organic content. Some bars cannot carry the full USDA seal due to additions like activated charcoal or iron oxide mineral colorants — neither of which is a synthetic toxicity concern, but which prevents the USDA seal on those specific bars. For bars without these additions, full USDA organic certification applies. Choose a bar that carries the USDA seal if this is a priority.
