Shampoo (liquid)
What We Use at CI
NOTE: The only liquid shampoo found that uses no synthetic surfactants whatsoever. The cleansing system is built entirely on saponified coconut oil (Sodium Cocoate) and saponified safflower oil (Sodium Safflowerate) — both true soaps via saponification.
NOTE: The cleanest surfactant system in the category by a significant margin. The best packaging option of any liquid shampoo found.
NOTE: Scented versions (Rosemary Mint Vanilla, Citrus Lavender, Cherry Almond) use only specifically named essential oils and are also CI-qualifying.
NOTE: True soap surfactants may underperform in hard water areas compared to isethionate-based formulas.
Other CI-Approved Shampoos
NOTE: EWG Verified, completely fragrance-free, SCI and Coco-Glucoside both present in the surfactant system.
NOTE: The most accessible qualifying liquid option — available widely in stores, on Amazon, and in large sizes.
NOTE: Ranked below Plaine Products because Sodium Coco-Sulfate leads the surfactant list (a flag vs. Plaine Products' zero-sulfate system), Lauryl Hydroxysultaine is structurally adjacent to the CAPB class (though distinct and EWG-rated 1–3), and packaging is plastic.
NOTE: Minor flags - Sodium Coco-Sulfate (non-ethoxylated coconut sulfate — flag, not hard disqualifier), Lauryl Hydroxysultaine (hydroxysultaine class, adjacent to but distinct from CAPB), Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride (plant-modified quat trace conditioner, acknowledged as acceptable in framework).
