Important greenwashing note for this category:

Many bagasse plates marketed as PFAS-free and compostable are white — meaning they have been bleached. White bagasse plates are ECF-bleached at minimum and do not qualify for the CI Gold Standard. The natural brown/tan color is the correct visual signal for an unbleached plate. If the plate is white and the brand does not explicitly state TCF bleaching with published confirmation, it is ECF-bleached by default. Always verify color and bleaching process before purchasing.
